Ten Ways To Stay Happy at Work
It can be quite hard to find happiness and you could have the most boring, hectic or tiresome job. Work colleagues could be another problem in you not creating that happy atmosphere. But, it’s all up to you to be more fruitful and build an everlasting role in your employment. These are the ways that will help you find happiness at work.
1. Be grateful you have a job
Try to remember that not everyone can get a job and you have a job to sustain you. At least think of all the benefits you receive through your employment and try to feel grateful. There maybe worse jobs out there and if thinking about the benefits is not enough then think about the worse case scenario ‘not having a job.’
2. Choose to Be Happy and Avoid Being Negative at work
You can be happy if you want to be. You might not have the best employer or work colleagues in the world but it is up to you to make the most of your job. Think positively about the work you do or try avoiding negative people and conversations. If it is not the right job for you try finding a job that suits you best.
3. Every day enjoyment
Look at your skills and interests to find things you enjoy doing everyday and in your current job. This way your job will not seem as bad as what your making it at the moment.
4. Take Charge of Your Own Professional and Personal Development
Take control of your personal development and request from your employer that you want to train to gain more experience.
5. Take Responsibility for Knowing What Is Happening at Work
Take time out to find out what is happening in your working environment. Some people complain about their lack of knowledge at work. Look at the company’s intranet website; you will be surprised at what you might find. Maybe request that your employer starts doing weekly or monthly meetings.
6. Complete everything that you do
It is common to get extremely stressed and unhappy over not committing to your duties. Start getting organised and plan your days at work to enable yourself to complete required tasks. If you do not have time to do work someone has asked you to do, then don’t be shy to say no.
7. Don't tittle-tattle
There is nothing worse than gossiping about other members of staff. When there is an invitation to participate in any form of gossip you need to remember that, ‘what goes around comes around’. It is better to build good working relationships to create a friendly atmosphere.
8. Take your Breaks
Legally you are entitled to a break and you can’t concentrate if you need a 5 minute rest. Some people can recuperate after a 10 minute sleep. Ensure you take the necessary breaks in order to stop the aggravation.
9. Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Eat well
Get up earlier than usual to get your body and mind prepared for the day ahead. People forget that their body still needs some tender loving care. Doing at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise s gets the blood flowing, boosts energy and loosens up the body. Eating breakfast enables you to go to work feeling replenished and focused.
10. If all of the above fails then QUIT!
It doesn’t make sense to stay in an environment where you are just not happy. If it’s a simple case of your job is not making you happy, then resign. There are still plenty of jobs out there and courses you can do to get that job. Some people need a fresh start or a change of scenery once in a while.
