INTERVIEWING FOR JOBS IN THE CARE SECTOR

AIMS:

Being successful in obtaining employment or promotion can often depend on how well we present ourselves to those responsible for selection. The session will enable participants to understand the key factors which make for a successful interview and allow them to practice their interviewing skills and receive feedback.

The aim of the course is to provide participants with a set of working guidelines, so that they can effectively prepare for an interview and present a positive image. The course provides the opportunity for participants to develop the skills necessary for self presentation at the various stages of the interview process.

OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Identified, examined and discussed the structure and various stages of the interview process
  • Identified, examined and discussed their skills, abilities and knowledge as it relates to gaining employment
  • Identified, examined and discussed issues regarding interview performance, advice on approach, structure and priorities
  • Have practised responding to interview questions
  • Have given and received feedback on their interview performance/participation
  • Identified, examined and discussed the important communication and interpersonal skills issues present in interview situations
  • Develop action plans regarding their interviewing skills and preparation

A practical and participative course with a lot of attention being focused on individual development of skills. The course combines trainer presentation, questioning, discussions, group work, mock interviews, manual and handouts.
