PERSON CENTRED CARE SKILLS
AIMS:
Participants need to recognise that their skills, knowledge and attitudes to service users have a significant
effect on the quality of care provided.
The overall aim of the programme is for participants to get to know their working environment, their role and
function within the team/organisation/agency. The programme is aimed at participants gaining a more in-depth
insight of the internal working systems of the team/organisation/agency and examining how this works in practice.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants would have:
- Identified, examined and discussed what is meant by Person Centred Care in terms of policy and practice
- Examined and discussed the main issues regarding the Care environment that they work in
- Examined and discussed the essential principles of Care and how to put them into practice
- Identified, examined and discussed their role within the team/organisation/agency and its impact on users
- Examined and discussed the needs of individuals and the Personal Care that is required of users
- Examined and discussed the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are vital in the Care environment
- Identified, examined and discussed the main policies, procedures and systems operating within Care
- Examined and discussed issues regarding health and safety within the team/organisation/agency
- Identified and examined areas of Best Care Practice in the team/organisation/agency
