WHAT IS COACHING?

Coaching is focused on improving the performance of managers, leaders, teams and individuals on a professional and personal basis. It is a style of communication and practice that engenders trust, builds confidence, mutual support and personal growth. Coaching is directly concerned with the immediate improvement of performance and development of skills. The coach focuses on building performance. The coach explores the problem with the individual (coachee) and sets up an opportunity for the individual to try out new skills/approaches. Coaching can provide a model for how to act; it challenges individuals to explore who they are, how they respond to life and situations and how they can grow and develop to manage their futures.

TYPES OF COACHING

DEVELOPMENT COACHING

The coach enables the coachee to identify and better apply their personal and professional strengths and development areas. We recommend a minimum of six sessions which will involve improving personal and strategic thinking, developing management and leadership skills, developing personal impact and ‘brand’, plus setting career goals. This type of coaching is normally aimed at middle to senior managers.


PERFORMANCE COACHING

Performance Coaching aims to enhance the coachee’s overall performance in their current role by focussing on the application of appropriate skills, attitudes and behaviours. This type of coaching usually applies to either senior or middle managers.


SKILLS COACHING

This development activity and sessions are skills based. The coach acts as a consultant and helps the coachee to learn the skills and competencies necessary to improve their performance and practice. The number of sessions varies and individuals or teams can be at any level within the organisation. Typical subjects involve an in-depth coverage on communication, organisation, planning, presentation and productivity.
