EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY
AIMS:
The programme is aimed at participants who wish to broaden their understanding of Equality and Diversity issues and become more effective at work. The emphasis will be on staff having a grasp of Equality and Diversity as a practice and process, its component parts and being integral to service delivery.
The session aims to enhance awareness and knowledge of the diverse needs of individuals and groups in order that these are recognised in all aspects of service delivery and in the work place. The course will examine equality and diversity issues on a practical level and the integration of Equality and Diversity in all aspects of their job.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the session, participants would have:
- Examined and discussed what is meant by Equality and Diversity
- Examined and discussed how Equality and Diversity can be integrated into their job role and function and applied to all aspects of their role
- Explored and discussed the attitudes and perceptions which create stereotypes and the impact/limitations these impose on individuals and groups
- Identified and discussed ways of promoting best practice in the delivery of Equality and in a diversified working environment and community
The course is highly participatory in nature and combines trainer presentation, group discussions and handouts.
