JOB APPLICATION SKILLS
AIMS:
Applying for a job can be a mind field as well as a frightening experience. The job market continues to be competitive. The overall aim of the workshop is to provide guidelines to participants on applying for jobs and completing the job application form.
The course also aims to provide guidelines to participants on identifying their skills, abilities, knowledge and experiences. The programme will assist participants in gaining or re-gaining their self confidence in terms of how they present themselves to others, with regards to the job application process.
The workshop provides discussion on job application skills, tips and hints on completing application forms.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course participants would have:
- Identified, examined and discussed the skills necessary in applying for a job
- Identified, examined and discussed the main features and sections of the Job Application Form and how it should be completed
- Examined and discussed the main features of the Person Specification criteria as it relates to the job application
- Identified and assessed their skills, abilities, knowledge and experiences as it relates to the job application
- Undertaken Skills Profile exercises
- Examined and discussed the importance of completing supporting statements in relation to job application forms
- Discussed oral and written responses to the Person Specification criteria as it relates to the job application
- Undertaken written exercises with regards to the supporting statement
A practical and participative course with a lot of attention being focused on individual development of skills.
The course combines trainer presentation, questioning, discussions, group work, user manual and handouts.
