MANAGING NOT COPING, WORKING SMARTER NOT HARDER

AIMS:

Our working environment is constantly changing. There is the need to take charge of your personal and professional life and obtain balance, more popularly known as ‘Work Life Balance’. We are required to ‘perform’, sometimes under chaotic and challenging situations. The backdrop to this is, as individuals we find ourselves ‘coping’ at work and in our jobs and not really ‘managing’ our responsibilities and areas of work as we should or need to. We need to improve our performance and productivity. As the saying goes ‘It’s productivity that counts and not activity!!’

We should really be ‘Managing and Not Coping! ‘Working Smarter, Not Harder! How do we do this? The objective is to be effective and efficient by learning to put the focus on where the focus should be or needs to be! What strategies are in place for dealing with particular situations that you are faced with? How have you planned to deal with certain eventualities or worst case scenarios at work or in your life?

In reality, we need to establish the tasks/responsibilities that are most important at work, to the organisation and arrange these in order of priority. We need to focus on ourselves and others and on what is most important, without forfeiting tasks and projects of lesser priority.

The programme is a participative and thought provoking session, which will examine how you can take personal responsibility for managing your time, work and most importantly yourself more successfully and productively and overcome the common obstacles that prevent this occurring.

The session should be utilised as a time for personal reflection, developing your self management skills and planning for the future.
